Fort Bovisand - £26m
Residential
JCT Construction Management

Along with Bovisand Estates, and Government agencies who have interest in the site, the developer has agreed a complex and ambitious scheme to bring this long-derelict fort back into use.

The MoD-owned site is a Scheduled Monument, a Listed Building, and a Site of Special Scientific Interest that’s home to several protected species. Combined with its cliff-edge position, and a history that raises the risk of disturbing unexploded ordnance, this makes for a highly interesting and unusual project!

DNA has been appointed to refurbish and convert the fort and the wider site in a £21million programme of conservation and redevelopment.

The team’s current focus is the enabling works – in collaboration with Natural England, the Council, MOD and local residents – and compiling a programme of works to stabilise the cliff face, protecting it from further sea erosion and making the access road safe. This requires careful planning to accommodate the seasonal behaviours of protected species on site.

Project completion is scheduled for completion date is Q1 and 2, 2021.
